Which building is the service in?

We host Christmas Day and Sunday evening prayers services in this cozy, rustic space.

Our original church, built in 1913, has been completely refurbished and seats approximately 40 people. We refer to it as The Old Stone Church and utilize it for meetings, community engagement, and small services on request.

This building faces Oak Street and sits on the corner of Oak and 9th.

The Sanctuary is where most services are held.

Building began in 1999 via a close partnership with what was then the Lowell Whiteman Primary School. This modern space was designed to honor our traditions as well as our majestic mountain surroundings.

This building faces Oak Street and the door sits about 100 feet to the East of the Old Stone Church.

Health & Safety

Masks: Masks are optional.

Gathering: Social distancing among large groups indoors is still recommended by the CDC and our bishop. However, given the size of St. Paul’s sanctuary, our average Sunday attendance (pre-COVID) of just under 90 people, St. Paul’s is able to provide ample room in the sanctuary for those participating in Sunday morning worship to gather safely. We ask that worship participants continue to respect people’s space, and when in doubt about how people feel about your proximity to them, please ask.

Reservations: Reservations are sometimes required for holiday services or other special events. When appropriate, this page will have the active link to make reservations online.

Communion: We have weekly communion bread, distributed by the priest to individuals. We also offer blessed communion wine, poured into cups that participants bring from home (dixie cups also available), by our altar servers. People also may request a communion kit to be picked up or delivered after the Sunday morning service. This process aligns to past practices of distributing communion following the service to those unable to attend.

Singing: Please join us in raising our voices!

Directions / Parking / Free Bus

DIRECTIONS: Situated on the corner of Oak and 9th, the address is 846 Oak Street. You will see the Sanctuary’s front door facing Oak Street under the large engraved words ENTER REST PRAY.

We are about 3.5 miles from the ski mountain; the drive is between 10 - 15 minutes depending on time of day, weather, and how high up the mountain your drive begins.

PARKING: There is free street parking along Oak Street and a free public lot at corner of Oak & 8th Street, next to Back Door Grill. Please do not park in the alley behind the church.

BUS: Since we are located downtown, only 1 block off Lincoln (the main thoroughfare), you might be interested in Steamboat’s free bus! The stop at Lincoln & 7th is the closest to St. Paul’s but any stop along Lincoln would be a relatively short and festive walk! After Services Coffee, Treats, & Fellowship

Sunday Coffee Hour: This takes place in the church Fellowship Hall immediately after services on Sunday mornings. Please join us for coffee, tea, a varied assortment of light breakfast foods and of course, good conversation!

Got Kids?

KidsWord worship bulletins are available in the church entrance. They are typically suitable for children over 5 years old.

Our nursery is open and hosted during Sunday services for young children from 3 months - 5 yrs old. When entering the sanctuary through the main door on Oak Street, the nursery is down the short hallway that is to the right of the altar.

What do I wear?

While we ask that you please not wear ski boots into the church, ski gear is acceptable pretty much everywhere in Ski Town, USA… including here at St. Paul’s. If it is a powder day, you will likely see people with ski-bibs on!
